Ricoh and co-sponsor Sun Microsystems, Inc. have created this contest to challenge young developers to pioneer Java™ technology based applications for Ricoh’s Aficio™ multifunctional products and laser printers.
Leveraging the large number of developers that use Sun’s Java™ language, the possibilities for new and customised functionalities of Ricoh’s multifunctional products (MFPs) and laser printers are endless.
The main participating countries this year will be: Italy, Russia, Spain, Norway, UK, France and Netherlands. However, a 'wild card' will be added to the competition this year. The best application from the EMEA region, developed outside the above-mentioned countries, will progress as a contestant in the European Final.
The European winning team will be rewarded with a trip to the Sun Microsystems 2007 JavaOneSM Conference in San Francisco, USA. In addition, Ricoh will present great prizes at different stages of the competition for both the participating universities and the students.
